  1. Where does the name Tai Knots come from?
The designer of Tai Knots jewellery, Rachel Norman, lived in Taiwan for nearly two years where she learned the ancient art of Chinese Knotting. Since Tai Knots is Eastern inspired and made with finely knotted nylon cord, it only makes sense to bring the two main elements together in the brand name. You can read more about Norman's story in her Biography.

  2. Do the gemstones really have energy?
Crystals are from the earth and they are formed with various minerals, and these minerals are said to have healing properties. The easiest way to appreciate how this is even possible is to understand that crystals have the most orderly structure in nature. This structure can conduct energy and it will respond to different types of energy like heat, light, electricity, and even the energies of consciousness. Depending on the type of energy input, the minerals in the crystal will vibrate at various levels and release energy of their own. The energy released from the crystal and the effect that it has on our body depends on the minerals contained in the crystal.

  3. Is Tai Knots really hypoallergenic?
Yes; at least the necklaces and bracelets are! All of our designs are made with very soft nylon cord, gemstone beads and genuine Swarovski Crystals. There is a small amount of Bali silver used as accents in our jewellery, although it is always placed in such a way that it will not come into contact with your skin and cause uncomfortable irritation. That is why we can say with confidence that our jewellery is hypoallergenic. Even the clasp is made with nylon cord! The only exception is our earrings, which are made with 925 sterling silver or 14K gold-filled parts. This quality of metal can be worn by women who don't generally experience irritation from wearing silver.

  4. Does Tai Knots break easily like some of my other jewellery?
It's always surprising to see how carefully people handle Tai Knots jewellery because of its delicate appearance. Don't be fooled! Unlike other beaded jewellery that can sometime be made with flimsy materiel and breakable beads, Tai Knots is assembled using strong nylon cord and durable gemstones. Our jewellery comes with a great warranty because of its superb resistance to scratches, chips and breakage. You can feel confident wearing Tai Knots!

  5. How do I clean my Tai Knots jewellery?
Always put your jewellery on last to avoid getting any skin care or hair care products on it. If needed, Tai Knots jewellery can be hand washed in warm water with a mild detergent and cleaned with a soft-bristle brush. Be sure to rinse it well, pat it a little with a hand towel and lay it flat to dry in the shade for at least 24 hours before wearing it. As for our sterling silver earrings, you can clean them with jewellery cleaner or a silver polishing cloth.

  6. Can I send Tai Knots jewellery as a gift?
Absolutely! Just add items to your shopping cart online and complete your order with your billing information and then check the "Gift Item" box. This way you can fill out the name and address of the person you would like the gift sent to. We'll even gift wrap it and personalize it with a note on your behalf.

  7. Which methods of payment do you accept?
Our preferred method of payment is Paypal™. Go to www.paypal.ca to set up your account, it's fast, safe and easy to use. We also accept Visa over the phone, email money transfers, personal cheques and money orders.

  8. Do you offer a warranty?
Yes! Tai Knots is some of the strongest and most durable fashion jewellery on the market and this is why we feel confident in offering a one-year warranty on all of our jewellery, and you can read the fine-print in our Warranty section.

  9. How much is shipping and how long does it take for you to process an order?
Generally, shipping charges are anywhere from $2.00 to $6.50 depending on the destination and the number of items being shipped. Most orders are shipped within 10 business days, but often we ship within 5 business days. It will take about 2 weeks on average for your to receive your order, and a little longer for U.S. and worldwide shipping. See our Shipping section for more information.
